- Do a lot of work. Practise a lot to close the gap between being a student and being a professional.
- Get work by having a recognisable style, as you will be known for this and the client will trust you
- If you get a boring brief, you can think of a better idea and show this to the client
- 'If you can't solve a problem its because you're playing by the rules'
- Draw about a hot topic at the time to get traffic on your site as people will search for it
- Do good work, put it where people can see it, invite people to see your website
- Send an email out to blogs, magazines, shops etc that you like, and ask them to look at your work, and ask them if they have any work
- Contact other designers
- Make a newspaper to send to agencies to show what your work is like printed
- Social network, enter competitions
- Market stalls - can sell cards, bags, prints, meet other designers
